The game between Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress and Egypt’s U18 women’s basketball team at the FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket Championship was a thrilling matchup. Nigeria’s team secured a 66-51 victory, marking a significant win in their tournament journey. The game was played in Pretoria, South Africa, at the University of Pretoria, with an attendance of 100 people. The referees for the game were Cebolenkosi Gooenough Dakki (RSA), Maria Bagnath (MOZ), and Asmae Benkhadra (MAR).

Khadiga Abouelghait of Egypt scored 20 points, while Idubamo Beggi of Nigeria scored 15 points. Egypt had a field goal percentage of 39.3%, while Nigeria’s field goal percentage was 24.4%.

Egypt led for 6 minutes and 2 seconds, while Nigeria led for 13 minutes and 13 seconds, Egypt’s biggest lead was 10-0, while Nigeria’s biggest lead was 15. The Egyptian team had a 7-0 scoring run, while the Nigerian team had a 32-7 scoring run.

Nigeria’s U-18 women’s basketball team, Junior D’Tigress, made history by reaching the semi-finals of the FIBA U-18 Women’s AfroBasket Championship for the first time in 14 years. The team will face either Mali or Senegal in the semi-finals, scheduled for September 13, 2024. The FIBA U-18 AfroBasket also serves as a qualification for the FIBA U-19 women’s World Cup.
