After a battled filled week, Novak Djokovic Ease Past Grigor Dimitrov in the finals of the Rolex Paris Masters ATP 1000 event in Paris to win his 97th career title.

Djokovic became the first player to win 40 Masters 1000 titles with a 6-4, 6-3 victory after showcasing his characteristic toughness throughout the match in front of a pack crowd on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Serb who had to struggled through stomach issues and beat Turkish Tallon Griekspoor to reach the quarterfinals revealed that winning the title was quite challenging for him.

“[It’s] incredible. To be able to win it after quite challenging circumstances for me this week,” said Djokovic. “Basically, coming back from the brink of losing three matches in a row, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I was very close to losing those matches and somehow managed to find an extra gear when it was needed.

“Today, I think we both were quite tight at the beginning, and I could see that he was running out of gas a little bit. Myself as well, but I somehow managed to find an extra shot over the net. I think the match was closer than the scoreline indicates, but another amazing win for me. I’m very proud of this one, considering what I’ve been through this week.”.

A 40th ATP Masters title for the Serbian and top seed, saw him won a record-extending seventh title at indoor event.

With this victory, World No. 1 Djokovic, who has won 18 straight matches since losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, will also go into the season-ending ATP Finals on a winning streak. By winning the Paris trophy, Djokovic increased his lead over the Spaniard to 1490 points in the Pepperstone ATP Live Race To Turin. This increases the likelihood that he will win the ATP Year-End No. 1 presented by Pepperstone title for an unprecedented eighth time.
