Eric Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr will not be renewing their contracts with Bayern Munich, as both stars are set to leave the club as free agents at the end of the season.
Bayern confirmed their departure ahead of the club’s final home game of 2023/24 against Wolfsburg on Sunday, April 12.
Choupo-Moting joined Bayern from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, and has since registered 38 goals and 13 assists across 122 appearances, winning the Bundesliga three times, the FIFA Club World Cup and the German Supercup.
“I’d like to thank FC Bayern for a wonderful and successful time. It was a dream to have played for this great club. I always gave everything for the team and our outstanding fans,” the Cameroonian said.
Sarr also joined the club in the same year and boasts of the same trophy collection as Choupo-Moting.
The Senegalese thanked the club and Fabs for being an integral part of his life for the past four years.
“I’m happy to have been part of this great club and the FC Bayern family for four years. I would like to thank the entire club and its fantastic fans for their support. I wish FC Bayern all the best for the future. I will always carry this club in my heart,” he said.
Both Africans are leaving the Allianz Arena with no trophy in their last season, having been ousted from the UEFA Champions League —their last hope of silverware—by Real Madrid last week.
