Diego Simeone is set to continue his managerial role at Atletico Madrid until 30 June 2027, which will take his total time spent at the club to 16 years, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The Argentine joined the Spanish giants back in December 2011 and has been at the helm for 12 years now, where he has won eight trophies including two league titles (2013/14 and 2020/21), one Copa del Rey (2012/13), two Europa League (2011/12 and 2017/18) and two European Super Cups (2012, 2018).

An abridged statement from the Club’s website reads: “Diego Pablo Simeone will remain coach of our club until 30 June 2027. The Argentine coach signed his new contract in the offices of the Cívitas Metropolitano, thus signing the continuity of the project that began with his arrival on the Red & White bench in December 2011.

“To date, he has coached us 642 games, winning 380 matches and losing just 18% of them. Simeone is not only the coach who has coached our team the most times in official matches -surpassing the 612 of Luis Aragonés- but also the most successful and the one who has coached the same team the most consecutive seasons in La Liga now.”

Since joining the club, Diego Simeone has won 380 of his 642 matches in charge, and the club are currently sitting fourth on the Spanish La Liga, and first of their UCL group stage with two games to spare.
