In light of Aleksandar Mitrovic’s imminent move to Saudi Arabia, Fulham has wrapped up the signing of Raul Jimenez from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £5.5m.
Jimenez’s move to the Craven Cottage sees him sign a contract until the summer of 2025, with a club option to extend by a further 12 months, bringing his five-year stint at the Molineux Stadium to an end.
The Mexico International who joined the English club back from Benfica upon the club’s promotion back in the summer of 2018 notched up 57 goals in all appearances from the club, with 40 of them earning him the club’s highest goalscorer in the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of his new chapter the 32-year-old said: “I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League. I’m happy to be here and to play in this stadium, it’s a really good stadium, I like it here. I’m going to give my best to keep scoring goals in the Premier League.”
Wolves’ farewell message also saw Sporting director Matt Hobbs declaring: “Raul has been an incredible servant to the football club, both on and off the pitch. Because of his goals and overall selfless performances, particularly during those first two years at the club, he’ll rightly go down as one of the greatest number nines to ever represent Wolves.
“From the moment he arrived, he bought into the project and was instrumental in some of the club’s greatest achievements in recent years, both in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, and you could see at the last home game how much he’s loved and appreciated by our fans.
“We all know what Raul went through with his injury and his journey to full recovery was an inspiration to everyone, particularly when he stepped back on the pitch for the first time – we all have the ultimate respect for Raul.”
