Juventus has confirmed the appointment of Paolo Montero as their interim manager, following the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri on Friday, May 17.

Allegri had just guided Juventus to their record 15th Coppa Italia trophy against Gian Piero Gasperini-tutored Atalanta, but Juve’s management attributed his dismissal to his actions before and after the final match.

The club has now announced Montero—the club’s U19 coach—as their manager for their final Serie A games against Bologna and Monza in the 2023/24 season.

“Paolo Montero will take the reins of the Men’s First Team for the final two games of the Serie A season, which come away at Bologna and then at home to Monza,” Juventus’ statement reads.

“He will then lead the Bianconeri for the season finale against Monza at the Allianz Stadium.

“Paolo is a Juventus legend, firstly on the pitch, and someone who has long been a bearer of the Club’s DNA on the bench.

“Best of luck, Paolo!”

Montero during his active footballing years as a defender had 278 appearances for Juventus between 1996 and 2005.
