Lazio’s management has finally Confirmed the resignation of Maurizio Sarri, following Italian’s letter of resignation on Tuesday.
Six Sports reported yesterday that Sarri after overseeing Lazio’s disappointing 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Udinese, Sarri had a subtle dressing fallout with his squad.
The fallout, coupled with the bad energy with President Claudio Lotito prompted Sarri’s resignation, despite having a year left in his contract.
On Wednesday morning, the Bianconcelesti confirms the ex-Chelsea’s manager departure, announcing assistant manager Giovanni Martusciello as interim coach.
“SS Lazio announces that Maurizio Sarri has resigned as head coach of the first team,” the club’s official statement reads.
“The club thanks the technician for the goals achieved and for the work carried out, wishing him the best human and professional luck.
“At the same time, the Club announces that it has decided to entrust the technical guidance to Giovanni Martusciello.”
Sarri was appointed as Lazio’s manager in 2021 and won 65 of 137 games at the Stadio Olimpico.
