Nottingham Forest has completed the signing of Matt Turner from Arsenal for a reported total fee of £10 million, and on a four-year contract.

The United States Men’s national team goalkeeper becomes the third summer signing at the City Ground, and has been registered just in time to feature in Forest’s first game of the season against his former side, Arsenal on Saturday.

The 29-year-old who spent up to six years at New England Revolution before making a £5 million switch to the Emirates in 2022 had limited playing time under Mikel Arteta, and will now be hopeful of more game time under Steve Cooper.

Speaking to Forest media in his first interview, Turner said: “It feels great to be here. It’s something I’m really looking forward to, it’s a great challenge and a great step in my career.

“When I heard that there was interest to bring me here, it just felt right for my family, it felt right when my agent spoke to me about it and it feels like the right move for me right now.”

“The manager and the backroom staff, everything about the club has a little sparkle to it. It’s felt right from the start and I’m happy it’s got done.”

“I’m looking forward to making a connection with my teammates, the fans and the city. I’m grateful to be here and can’t wait to get things started.”

The club’s Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson also added: “We are pleased to welcome Matt to the club today.

“Our coaching staff are looking forward to working with him immensely and I know Matt is excited to get going with the staff and players.”

The USMNT number one now becomes the third addition at the City Ground ahead of the new campaign, following the arrival of Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga.
