Paul George, the Philadelphia 76ers’ prized free-agent acquisition, left Monday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks with a hyperextended left knee. This happened in the second quarter, after he scored eight points in just 12 minutes, helping his team secure a 104-89 victory.

George himself doesn’t seem too concerned about the injury, saying, “I felt that it hyperextended, and immediately it was, all right, I need to get taken out and (looked at), but if you ask me, I’m not too concerned about it”. However, as a precaution, he’ll be examined today, according to 76ers coach Nick Nurse.

This injury comes at a time when the 76ers are already being cautious with their star players. Joel Embiid, their center, has been shut down for the rest of the preseason due to left knee management. With George joining Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the 76ers were expected to have one of the most formidable trios in the league, capable of competing with NBA champion Boston.
