Manchester City duo Phil Foden and Bunny Shaw have been voted men’s and women’s PFA Player of the Year respectively for last season at the PFA awards.

Foden was instrumental as City won their fourth consecutive Premier League title, scoring 19 goals and providing eight assists.

Two-time Young Player winner Foden had already won EPL Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year.

Foden inherits the honour from team-mate Erling Haaland, who was again nominated for his exploits last season.

The Englishman edged teammates, Haaland and Rodri, Arsenal’s Odegaard, Chelsea’s Palmer, and Aston Villa’s Watkins to the prize.

He expressed his joy after receiving the gong, revealing it was a special one for him to be proud of.

“To win this is something very special and it is one that I am very proud of and grateful for”, said Foden.

“To be recognised this way by your fellow professionals means everything”, he added.

It marks a double for Manchester City as they are also celebrating Khadija Shaw claiming the women’s award.

Shaw enjoyed a stellar campaign with City last season, netting 21 goals to finish as the WSL’s top scorer.

She had already been named the WSL player of the year for 2023-24 and also player of the year at the Women’s Football Awards.

“I am both happy and proud to have received this award, to be recognised in such a way by my peers is a very special honour”, Shaw said.

“I also want to thank my team-mates and the entire coaching staff because without them this would not be possible.

“I’d also like to congratulate all my fellow nominees who are such amazing players. To have been voted the player of the year means a lot”, she added.

She beat her City teammates; Yui Hasegawa and Lauren Hemp, to the award as well as Chelsea’s Lauren James.
