The Toronto Raptors have made a huge move, acquiring forward Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans. In exchange, the Pelicans will receive guard Bruce Brown, center Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick, and a future second-round pick.
Ingram, a 27-year-old former All-Star, has been averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this season, despite being limited to just 18 games due to injuries.
The Pelicans, who are struggling with a 12-39 record, are looking to rebuild and potentially secure a top pick in the 2025 NBA draft. This trade marks the end of Ingram’s six-year tenure in New Orleans, where he developed into a consistent 20-plus point-per-game scorer.
The Raptors, meanwhile, are trying to build around Scottie Barnes and are taking a chance on Ingram’s talent, despite his injury history. With Ingram set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, it’ll be interesting to see how the Raptors approach his contract situation.
