Real Madrid have been drawn against rival Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey Round of 16—a Madrid derby set to be determined in a one-legged affair at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium on January 17.
Real who are the current holders of the cup will be looking towards repeating a similar performance that saw them eliminate their city rivals by 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the competition last season.
This draw sets the stage for both Spanish giants to face each other three times between now and February 4, as there’s a Super Cup clash between both sides on January 10, a La Liga fixture on February 4 after next week’s Copa del Rey clash.
