De’Aaron Fox made history last night, dropping 60 points and breaking the Sacramento Kings’ franchise record that stood for over 60 years! He surpassed Jack Twyman’s 59 points, set back in 1960, and DeMarcus Cousins’ 56-point performance in 2016. Fox’s incredible performance included 26 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, shooting 22-for-35 from the field, 6-for-10 from distance, and 10-for-11 on free throws.
Although the Kings lost 130-126 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime, Fox’s achievement was undoubtedly the highlight of the game. His teammate Malik Monk encouraged him to go for 60 points when he saw Fox had 48 points in the fourth quarter.
This milestone is even more impressive considering Fox has only made one All-Star team despite averaging over 21 points per game in eight seasons. Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves’ player, praised Fox, saying he’s “one of the best point guards in the league”.
Fox’s record-breaking performance is definitely cool, and he’s thrilled about it, even in a losing effort.
