Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat of the season courtesy of a 5-1 humiliation at the Deutsche Bank Park by Eintracht Frankfurt.
The six-goal thriller encounter was Bayern’s first defeat of the season as they failed to overtake Bayern Leverkusen in the first position.
Returning to action after a week off Bundesliga duty, Bayern’s slow start caught up on them in the 12th minute, as Omar Marmoush converted Fares Chaibi’s rebound to grab Frankfurt’s first goal of the game.
19 minutes later, the host stung again, after Ansgar Knauff dispossessed Kim Min-jae, presenting a chance for Dina Ebimbe to fire past Manuel Neuer for the second goal of the game, before adding a third via Hugo Larsson in the 36th minute.
And few minutes before the half time, Joshua Kimmich’s pulled one back for Bayern with a long-range effort to send the game 3-1 into the break. But barely five minutes into the second half, Frankfurt capitalized on Dayot Upamecano’s defensive error, as Dina Ebimbe scored his second goal of the game to restore his side’s three-goal lead cushion.
The Eagles then wrapped up the game in the 60th minute via Knauf, putting an end to their five-match winless stint in all competitions, while Bayern Munich was condemned to a familiar misery from the same foe, as they also missed on the chance to return to the Bundesliga summit.
Bayern have conceded 5+ goals in a Bundesliga game for just the second time in the last eight seasons.
