AS Roma loses another point in the Europa League as they suffered a 1-0 away defeat to Elfsborg.
Michael Baidoo’s penalty won the game for the Elfsborg, as Roma were poor on the attack despite boasting 24 shots.
The Italians only best chance in the game was when Lorenzo Pellegrini hit the crossbar.
The Swedish side started well, as Mile Svilar was first called into action. The Roma goalkeeper stopped a counterattack from Besfort Zeneli, then saved Henriksson’s header from the subsequent corner.
Svilar once again had a sensational one-handed save on Zeneli’s 14-yard volley but VAR intervention led to a penalty for Elfsborg. Baldanzi was shown to have instinctively moved his arm towards the ball in the build-up.
The Swedes then took the lad in the 44th minute as Michael Baidoo converted the penalty.
Despite dominating the game, Roma wasted several efforts as they continuously shot off target. Their only close chance was Pellegrini’s crossbar in the 83rd minute.
The Giallorossi are just with a point in two Europa League game. They played a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao, before losing to Elfsborg.
