Argentine forward Paulo Dybala has revealed his deep connection with Italy, describing the country as his second home.

Dybala made this revelation during an interview with Lega Serie A on a tour of Rome, hoping Italy will be his “second home” for a long time and feels it would be nice to play a football game in the Colosseum.

“I am Argentinean, and I will always be, but Italy is a second home to me, and I hope it will continue to be for a long time,” the Roma star said.

“Rome is magical. When I was a kid back in Argentina, I only saw Rome through movies and my impression was that it was an enormous city, something very big.

“The first day I arrived in Italy, I arrived in Rome and for me, it was a dream come true.

“I have played football since I remember. To say that it is everything may seem exaggerated, but it’s exactly how it is. The best memories I have are often related to football. One can dream and imagine, but when those dreams become reality it’s truly incredible. Football is in every moment of my life.

“This is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. It would be nice to have a football game here,” the 30-year-old continued.

“The history here [in Rome] is incredible and unique. I like to see and admire the city more than anything. As I said before, especially at night, everything is lit up, making it even more beautiful. At night, the city is something else.

“Italy has played a very important role in my life. I have lived here for more than 10 years. All through my adolescence up until today, I’ve always lived in Italy, in different cities, but always in this country, where I met incredible people. It’s a country that has taught me a lot. They have treated me well from the first day.

“I think Italians, in general, are similar to Argentineans. The fans are very similar, the passion for the club, the strong feelings. I often watched Roma games, but if you are not inside, it’s difficult to know what it’s like to be here. People here live and breathe Roma.”

Six Sport reported Dybala’s “I play for Roma, and I see myself with Roma” response to a question on his future.

Although the 2022 World Cup winner’s contract with Giallorossi doesn’t end until June 2025, his intermittent struggles with fitness have been a serious issue prompting speculation about his future, with sources claiming new manager Daniele De Rossi welcomes the idea of severing ties with the ex-Juventus star.
