Al Nassr and Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, gave his view on the 2024 Ballon d’Or controversy, at the Globe Soccer Awards.

The Real Madrid legend was of the opinion that Vinicius Junior was more deserving of the award than the recipient, Rodri.

Vinicius Junior looked certain to secure his first Ballon d’Or, with his crucial role in Real Madrid’s La Liga and UEFA Champions League double.

However, the Brazilian was overlooked for the No.1 spot, and the gong was awarded to Spain and Manchester City midfielder, Rodri.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo spoke at the Globe Soccer Awards, as he claimed the call was wrong as the latter deserved the title.

“He did a great job last season, and in my opinion, he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. It was unfair and I will say that in front of everyone.”

The Portuguese went to espouse a contentious opinion during the ceremony, positing that the Saudi Pro League surpasses the French Ligue 1.

Ronaldo articulated his stance, stating, “Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has PSG. The rest are finished. Try to sprint in 38, 39, 40 degree weather and see.”

Both Ronaldo and Vinicius Jr won double awards in Dubai. The Portuguese won the best player in the Middle East. He was also honoured as the Top scorer of all time.

Vinicius went on to claim the Best Player of 2024, as well as the Best Forward.
