Andrey Rublev brushed past Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-3 for his 20th ATP Masters 1000 win and reach the quarter-finals at the Rolex Paris Masters on Thursday.

The 26-year-old became just the fourth player this year to earn 20 ATP Masters 1000 match wins and reach the last eight in Paris.

“Today it went my way,” Rublev said. “Early breaks gave me some confidence. From one set up you play with more freedom and then with a break in the second more free. Then you can go for even more.”

After spending 65 minutes playing the Dutchman, the fifth seed proved to be at his lethal best, hammering home eighteen winners and committing just four unforced errors to reach his 12th tour-level quarterfinal of the year.

Rublev won his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 championship in Monte-Carlo earlier this year, and in 2023 he has a 20-7 record at this level. In 2023, the only players with more wins at Masters 1000 events are Carlos Alcaraz (25), Daniil Medvedev (25), and Jannik Sinner (21).

In the last eight, Rublev, who will compete at the ATP Finals later this month, will take on Alex de Minaur, the 13th seed, in an attempt to win a third title of the year.

World No. 4 Jannik Sinner withdrew ahead of his match with de Minaur due to fatigue. The Italian won a lengthy three-set battle that finished at 2:37 a.m. this morning with American Mackenzie McDonald. De Minaur remains in the hunt for a place at the Nitto ATP Finals.

In other action, Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame German Alexander Zverev 7-6(2), 6-4 to book his place in the quarter-finals.

The seventh-seeded Greek saw off his opponent in an hour and 59-minutes to send last season’s semi-finalist packing and set a quarter finals clash with Karen Khachanov who earlier defeated qualifier Roman Safiullin 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Following up his impressive victory over Daniil Medvedev, Grigor Dimitrov defeated Alexander Bublik 6-2, 6-2. After reaching the semi-finals in Shanghai last month, the Bulgarian has now advanced to two Masters 1000 quarter-finals this year.
