Aryna Sabalenka won her third Grand Slam singles title and her first in New York City under a closed Arthur Ashe Stadium roof on a rainy day at the US Open.

The 26-year-old Sabalenka took 1 hour and 53 minute to hold off No.6 seed and American Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 and captured the 2024 US Open title on Saturday.

“We saw tears when you lost in the final. Now we see different tears,” Aryna Sabalenka after beating Pegula to win the US Open.

“I remember all those tough losses in the past year.. it’s gonna sound easy but never give up on your dream. Keep dreaming and keep working hard. If you’re really working hard and you sacrifice everything for your dream, you’re gonna get it one day.

“I’m super proud of myself. I never say that. But really guys I’m Super proud. I’m proud of my team that no matter what, no matter what situation we’re facing this season and in the past, we were able to go through it and get all those beautiful trophies.

“Their support is everything. You’re my family. I couldn’t imagine my tennis life or personal life without you. I really love you. I don’t say it often, but I say it sometimes. I love you so much. Thank you for being you.”

With the victory, Sabalenka becomes the first player to win both hard-court Slams in the same year since Angelique Kerber in 2016. The only other women who won a pair of hard-court Slams in one calendar year during the Open Era are Stefanie Graf (1988, 1989), Monica Seles (1991, 1992) and Martina Hingis (1997).
