Real Madrid’s pursuit of William Saliba has hit a roadblock, as both Arsenal and the player are unwilling to part ways.
Reports suggest that the Spanish giants have made the French defender their top target for next summer, but Arsenal are not open to a sale.
The 23-year-old signed a new contract last year and has developed into one of the world’s top defenders. He has formed a strong partnership with Gabriel at Arsenal, which has naturally drawn attention.
Madrid, facing injury issues with Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba, are eager to reinforce their defense. If they fail to secure Saliba, they might focus on Tottenham’s Christian Romero.
Saliba initially went on three loan spells before making his Arsenal debut against Crystal Palace in 2022. After joining Arsenal, he was loaned to Saint-Etienne. Followed by stints at OGC Nice and Marseille, before returning to make his Premier League debut.
Saliba is now set to play for France against Belgium in the Nations League. With Arsenal’s next match being against Bournemouth, they look to maintain pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool.
