Scottie Barnes’ night was cut short against the Knicks due to a sprained right ankle. The injury occurred when he landed on New York’s Karl-Anthony Towns while battling for a defensive rebound with 6:47 left in the third quarter. Barnes scored 15 points in 23 minutes before exiting the game. Fortunately, initial X-rays on his foot did not reveal a fracture.
This is the second major injury Barnes has had to endure this season, having previously missed 11 games due to a right orbital fracture. The Raptors will be monitoring his injury closely, hoping for a quick recovery. If Barnes misses extended time, it could hinder his chances for further accolades this season and impact Toronto’s development strategy.
Barnes has been averaging career highs of 21 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game this season. The Raptors’ next game is on Thursday against the Miami Heat.
