Jannik Sinner’s superb run in 2024 continued at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Italian and World no.1 beautifully dispatched former US Open champion, rival and fifth-seeded Daniil Medvedev 6-1,6-4 in 85 minutes at the quarter finals in Shanghai to reach the last four.

Sinner, who with the results will now compete in his fifth ATP Masters 1000 semi-final of the season, wasted no time in beating the Russian who he had in the have a closer tight match ups with.

“It depends where we play and everything. Very happy how I handled today and this match. I felt like he had a bit of shoulder pain. He couldn’t hit his forehand as well as he’d wish too. Hopefully he can recover as fast as possible. Talking from my side, it was a great match. Let’s see what I can do in the semis,” Sinner responded on why today’s result versus Medvedev was different despites some tight matches against in the past.

Sinner, who was a finalist last week in Beijing has now advanced to his 11th Semi-final of the season.

“Obviously I’m very happy to be in this position. Being in the semi-finals of a Masters is always a big step forward. It’s a huge accomplishment from my side, but we try to keep going, we try to improve and see what I can do. But talking about today, it was a great match, and I’m looking forward to the semis.”

“It’s better [than my career expectations],” said Sinner, when asked about reaching his 10th Masters 1000 semi-final. “You cannot plan when you are young. You never know what is going to happen in your career. You just try to improve daily.

With the victory, the World No. 1 will face another Rival in Carlos Alcaraz or Czechia’s Tomas Machac in last four at ATP Masters 1000 on Sunday.
