With three goals in the first 39 minutes, Bournemouth easily defeated Southampton, who only scored a goal at 51 minute in Premier League match on Monday.

The only thing that got the Saints off the bottom of the standings again—and relieved some pressure on Russell Martin—was a header from Taylor Harwood and Benellis during a better second half performance.

However, the Champions playoff champions from the previous year is yet to secure a victory in their first six games back in the top division. This is a total of 19 games since March 2023. For the most part of that run, Martin—who inked a new three-year contract in July—is not accountable.

However, his choice to start this fictitious South Coast Derby without a designated striker backfired miserably during a chaotic first half. And in their final match before the international break, they will go to Arsenal on Saturday.

However, Andoni Iraola was able to enjoy his ban from the touchline. As expected, his team has defeated Southampton into 11th position thanks to goals from Evanilson, Dango Ouattara, and the outstanding Antoine Semenyo.

The Cherries’ first victory at home this campaign was much-needed. The Saints started brightly but the game changed with Evanilson’s expert 17th-minute finish. Following a swift free kick over the opposition defense by James Tavernier, the former Porto striker volleyed a right-foot shot beyond Ramsdale.

The record £40 million acquisition had only played at home when he missed a penalty against Chelsea. The second goal proved Southampton’s lack of luck as well. Lewis Cook attempted a low shot after Semenyo cut back, and it deflected in off Ouattara.

Semenyo capped a fine first-half display by ending a twisting run by firing home his third goal of the season. Counting a third goal for Bournemouth from five first-half shots.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis stooped to head home a Mateus Fernandes cross exactly after 50 minutes. This saw Southampton stay above Wolves by only a single goal on goal difference.
