Spalletti advises Napoli-bound Conte  

Former Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has offered his perspective on the imminent appointment of Antonio Conte as the new manager at the Stadio Maradona.

Currently serving as the head coach of the Italian national team, Spalletti spoke to Sky Sport Italia on Monday, ahead of the upcoming EURO 2024 tournament this summer. However, the conversation also touched upon the current situation at Napoli.

“Napoli has a great team, otherwise it wouldn’t have been possible for me to do what I did there,” Spalletti said.

“I don’t know what is happening, you will know more than me. Changing coaches three times definitely creates some problems, but the squad is top-notch.”

The 65-year-old added on working under Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, “At a certain point, I stopped listening. He knows a lot about lots of things, he brought top-level football back to Naples and created some great teams.”

Despite guiding Napoli to their first Scudetto triumph in over three decades during the previous season, Spalletti made a swift exit from the club. His departure came just a few weeks after the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign, despite the historic achievement.

A few weeks later, Spalletti was appointed as the successor to Roberto Mancini, taking over the reins of the Italian national team.
