Kevin Durant’s injury is a major concern for the Phoenix Suns. The star forward suffered a left ankle sprain during Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets and had to be helped off the court. Durant was driving to the basket when he rolled his ankle on Jabari Smith Jr.’s foot with 6:57 remaining in the third quarter.
The Suns announced that Durant will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. Unfortunately, he won’t be traveling with the team for their upcoming three-game road trip, which starts Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Durant’s injury adds to the Suns’ woes, who are already struggling to make the playoffs. They’ve lost three straight games and are currently 11th in the Western Conference. The team is hoping that the MRI results will bring some clarity on Durant’s recovery timeline.
