Barcelona talented teenager, Lamine Yamal, has won the 2024 Kopa Trophy.
The young winger claimed the award for the best player in the world under 21, following in the footsteps of Bellingham, Pedri and Gavi.
The 17-year-old winger has shattered nearly every record for young players in both La Liga and Europe.
He won the award ahead of Arda Güler, Kobbie Mainoo, Savinho and fellow teammate and countryman, Pau Cubarsí in fifth.
Speaking after receiving the award, Yamal said, “I want to thank my father, my mother, my grandmother. Also the coaching staff, especially Xavi before and now Hansi (Flick), and my teammates.”
The Barcelona winger was the favorite among the ten nominees as he’s already a regular starter for club and country.
Last summer, he played a decisive role in Spain’s Euro win, scoring a stunning goal in the semifinal against France. He also delivered four assists, including one in the final against England.
Although Barcelona didn’t win any trophies last season, Yamal established himself as a starter, playing 37 La Liga games, scoring five goals, and contributing seven assists.
He success makes it the fourth consecutive La Liga winner of the award, with Bellingham in 2023, Gavi in 2022 and Pedri in 2021
