John Textor advances in talks to purchase Everton 

Alan Myers claims that John Textor is making progress in his attempt to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri. On X [Sep 14], the esteemed journalist was questioned about whether he now saw this most recent takeover attempt succeeding.

Myers indicated that things are at least looking up on that front, even though he was unable to provide a definitive response. He said: “Honestly, I don’t know but it’s certainly progressing at this point”.

Some have raised concerns regarding Textor, not helped by his public interview this week when he seemed to give a little too much information away. However, in comparison to the Friedkin Group and in particular 777 Partners, the American has far more credibility and seems a good fit.

Everton fans have been scarred too many times, though, and the longer these talks drag on, the more likely it looks like the same outcome. It is rather farcical when you consider 777 first entered talks to purchase the club around this time last year.

With Bloomberg reporting that Aliya Capital Partners is also supporting Textor’s proposal, he now has support. Let’s hope that there is another encouraging development soon, as this is a very significant time in the Toffees’ history. There are also speculations on Textor’s desire to purchase a second London team.
