The Nuggets have won their first NBA title thanks to Nikola Jokic, who won the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award for the first time.
Jokic contributed 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game over the course of the five-game series, which the Nuggets won 94-89 on Monday in front of their home crowd at Denver’s Ball Arena to wrap up.
The 32-point, 21-rebound, 10-assist, and 2-block effort he had in Game 3—the only 30-20-10 triple-double in Finals history—was probably his best statistical outing. It was also a key performance for the Nuggets, who needed to bounce back from their lone loss in the series, in which Jokic had scored 41 points.
