Transfer: Messi Officially Confirms His Move To Inter Miami

Lionel Messi has definitively annouhis transfer to a Major League Soccer side, Inter Miami FC, this summer.

In a statement with Mundo Deportivo he said: “I’m not going back to Barça, I’m going to Inter Miami.

“I wanted to return to Barça but didn’t want to leave my future hanging in the hands of other people.

“If it had been a matter of money, I would have gone to Arabia or elsewhere. It seemed like a lot of money to me and the truth is that my decision goes elsewhere and not because of money.

“I wanted to make my own decision, thinking about myself, about my family. Although I heard that it was said that LaLiga had accepted everything and that everything was fine for me to return, there were still many other things that had to be done. I heard that they had to sell players or lower the salary of players and the truth is that I didn’t want to go through that.

“I had offers from another European team, but I didn’t even evaluate it because in Europe my idea was only to go to Barcelona.

“Hopefully, I don’t know when or what or when but hopefully one day I can still contribute something at Barcelona and help because it’s a club that I love as I always said. I appreciate the affection I had from people during my career and I would like to be here again, yes.

“So many things have been said, so many lies were told but I can’t go out to deny everything that is said but I see that there are many journalists who tell many lies. Many things bothered me, for example, when they talk a lot about my family, who said that my son had a hard time [in Paris] when it is the opposite. My children don’t want to leave because of how well they are.

“Yes, obviously yes. I followed Xavi all year and I wanted Barça to win trophies, like all Barcelona fans. And even the first year too, I talked a lot with Xavi after a few games. I followed him closely.

“Uncomfortable in Paris? A little, yes, because as I said, the truth is that in these 2 years, I was not happy. I did not enjoy and that affected my family life.

“Hearing the Camp Nou chant my name at the 10th minute was very beautiful and I really enjoyed it.

“We never negotiated my salary. It wasn’t about money otherwise I was going to join Saudi.

“I was dreaming of Barça return, yes; but I was never sure about that happening because I remember very well the story of August 2021, two years ago.

“I’m sure that there are people in the club that does NOT want me to return to Barça, considering that negative for the club.

“The club, today, was not in a position to tell me 100% whether I could come back or not and this is totally understandable with the situation they’re going through.

“Busquets to Inter Miami? This was a lie, saying I was going to the same club as Jordi Alba and Busi. No, we never agreed to join the same club.

“I made my decision to join Miami and I don’t know what they are gonna do.”
