Tristan Thompson Re-signs with Cavaliers for 11th Season.

Tristan Thompson, a 33-year-old free agent center, has signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, marking his 11th season with the team. This will be his second stint with the Cavs, having previously played for the team before joining several other teams between 2020 and 2022.

Thompson’s on-court productivity may have declined, but the Cavs value his leadership presence, particularly for their young roster. Last season, he appeared in 49 games, averaging 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Despite struggling with injuries, the Cavs made a notable playoff run, reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they were eliminated by the eventual champion Boston Celtics in five games.

Thompson was originally selected by the Cavs with the 4th overall pick in the 2011 draft and became a key contributor to their 2016 NBA championship win. Over his career, spanning 779 games, he has consistently delivered, averaging 8.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, solidifying his status as a reliable and accomplished player in the league.

Rich Paul, Thompson’s agent, finalized the deal with the team on Friday.
