Ex-Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has made headlines by officially switching his international allegiance from England to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Born in Bunia, DR Congo, Tuanzebe moved to England at a young age. The 26-year-old currently plies his trade at Championship Ipswich Town.
Despite representing England at various youth levels, he’s now committed to representing his country of birth on the international stage.
Tuanzebe is expected to make his competitive debut for the Leopards in June for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Dr Congo who finished fourth at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are currently positioned third in Group B, trailing Senegal and Sudan.
