Bayern Munich’s manager Thomas Tuchel applauded his side’s 3-0 win over Lazio in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday.
The result completed the Bavarians’ comeback, and secured their spot in the quarter-final, following their 1-0 loss to the Biancocelesti in Rome.
Reacting to the victory post-match, Tuchel told Bayern’s media, “We were very disciplined. It was a very solid performance. We didn’t lose our heads. We played with far more courage than in the first leg and had better rhythm. The first goal gave us strength and the second goal came at the perfect moment.
“That gave us confidence and with a very decent, solid team performance we deserved to win this game. We were able to be concentrated and disciplined for the full 90 minutes. In the end, it looked easier than it was. We did well.”
Harry Kane who grabbed a brace to increase his tally to 33 goals in 33 matches for the German giants added, “It was a perfect night for us. It was a big game being 1:0 behind in the first leg. It’s a big moment in our season.
“It was a top performance. We had energy and pressed without the ball. I’m really proud of the boys.”
The qualification into the 2023/24 UCL quarter-final makes it the fifth successive season Bayern have made it into the round.
