Tyrese Haliburton, a first-year All-Star, will stay in Indiana for the foreseeable future after reaching a massive five-year, $260 million deal extension with the Pacers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
In each of his five NBA seasons, Haliburton, 23, has increased his scoring average, including a career-high 20.7 points per game in 2022–23. His assists have also risen, reaching a new career high of 10.4 per game from previous year.

By doing this, Haliburton made NBA history by becoming just the 15th player to ever average 20 points and 10 assists per season.

With the first All-Star selection of his professional career during that breakthrough year, Indiana’s multi-player deal with Sacramento in 2022—which came at the expense of prolific forward Domantas Sabonis—was justified. In an effort to make the playoffs for the first time since 2019–20, Indiana aims to team fellow guard Haliburton with rookie guard Bennedict Mathurin, who showed promise in his debut season.
