A first half strike from joint adidas Golden Boot leader Choe Rim-jong secured Korea DPR’s quarter-final victory over Poland.

The win advances the Koreans to the semi finals of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic.

Korea DPR took just a quarter of an hour to break the Polish backline, who haven’t conceded in the tournament.

The goal came, courtesy of Choe Rim-jong’s volley. Choe Il-son released Jon Il-chong down the left, before the winger sent a cross that Choe Rim-jong volleyed home inside the six-yard box.

That goal sent the forward joint-top of the adidas Golden Boot tally with Nigerian Shakirat Moshood.

The North Koreans kept asking more questions as they looked to increase the lead against the well-organised defensive Poland.

However, Choe Rim-jong’s early chance was enough secure the win, as the squandered all other chances.

Just like last month’s U20 Women’s World Cup in Columbia, Korea DPR will be facing USA to book a place for the final.

The Asians will hope to duplicate the feat achieved by their U20 Women, who defeated the Americans and eventually won the trophy.

The clash will hold on Thursday, October 31st, 2024.
