Cameroon came from 2-0 down to draw Mexico in the opener of the U20 Women’s World Cup.

Naomi Eto’s brilliance earned the African a point as she struck twice in the second half to tie the game.

Mexico took the lead in the 3rd minute of the first half, to score the first goal of the tournament, courtesy of Marcia Paola Garcia powering header  from Montserrat Saldivar’s cross .

Cameroon went right to work on finding an equaliser with Atcha Toko Njoya and Eto each hitting the woodwork.

Garcia and Saldivar teamed up in the 40th minute to double the lead, as Saldivar brilliantly finished a pass from Garcia.

Cameroon responded impressively and found the back of the net in the 51st minute. Receiving a pass from Soufiya Ngueleu, Eto dribbled Mexico goalkeeper Renatta Cota to pull one back.

The momentum was with Cameroon and the African side took full advantage. Eto headed home a Lamine Mana’s cross in the 85th minute to secure a comeback 2-2 draw for her side.

It was a deserving one for Cameroon as the shared the points with the North Americans.

Cameroon’s are playing in their first ever U-20 Women’s World Cup match.
