USA completed a stunning comeback against Germany to progress to the semi finals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

With two goals down in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time, USA struck in the 98th and 99th minutes to reach the penalty shoot out.

The Americans however defeated Germany 3-1 on penalties to book a dramatic semi-final berth.

USA were dead and buried with 2-0 down in the final minute of second half stoppage time in Cali. The subsequent 90 seconds produced arguably the most dramatic in the history of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Germany got the lead in the 61st minute courtesy of Cora Zicai’s penalty. Loreen Bender scored the second in what seems like a game-killing one for Germany.

However, USA produced a miraculous comeback. Firstly, substitute Jordynn Dudley latched onto a hopeful long ball and fired past Rebecca Adamczyk with the full eight minutes of additional time elapsed.

A minute and 27 seconds after the restart, the Americans broke the Germans heart and shocked the world as Ally Sentnor’s goal-bound effort went in off Jella Veit to complete the unbelievable comeback.

The extra time then went goalless, leading to the second penalty shootout of the tournament as neither side could get the winner.

However, USA progressed as Germany missed their second and third efforts, with Teagan Wy saving the fourth to secure the Americans a semi finals spot.

The U20 USWNT will face Korea DPR to fight for the final showdown.
