In a much-needed win contest, Real Madrid displayed a brilliant piece of football to defeat Brest 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League.
The defending champions will be seeded for Friday’s play-off draw after finishing 11th in the league phase.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side opened the lead in 27th minute with Rodrygo’s strike. The Brazilian fired them ahead, cutting inside from the left before finishing off the post.
The hosts then had a potential leveller chalked off for offside just after half-time.
Few minutes later, Los Blancos doubled the lead to ensure qualification beyond the league-format phase.
Jude Bellingham slotted home the second in the 56th minute, before Rodrygo made the points safe with a simple finish 12 minutes from time.
Despite the loss, Brest were also already assured of a play-off place. They are likely to face Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica after finishing 17th, two points behind Madrid.
Meanwhile, Madrid will face one of Manchester City or Celtic in next month’s play-offs.
