Harry Kane’s decisive double propelled Bayern Munich to a remarkable comeback victory in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) last-16 tie against Lazio on Tuesday at the Allianz Arena.
Having suffered a disappointing 1-0 first-leg defeat at the Stadio Olimpico last time out, Bayern weren’t so bright in the opening minutes of today’s match, and was lucky to have avoided going behind, after Ciro Immobile’s early miss.
Thomas Tuchel’s side continued their struggle to break down Lazio’s resilient defence, and eventually did through Harry Kane in the 38th minute, as the Englishman capitalized on a scrappy cross from Raphaël Guerreiro to put his side ahead.
About nine minutes later, Bayern took full control of the game via Thomas Müller who converted Matthijs de Ligt’s spectacular volley from close range to see the German side enter the break with a comfortable lead.
It took Kane about 20 minutes into the second half to complete his brace, after pouncing on a rebound from Leroy Sané’s shot to grab his 33rd goal in 33 games for the Bavarians.

The German giants could’ve increased their lead, but they couldn’t quite well finish off their chances, as they comfortably secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 UCL season, making it the fifth successive season they’ll be making it into the round.
