Manchester United secured a victory for interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy in his last game in charge. This win marked his second over Leicester City, with the first coming in a 5-2 EFL Cup victory shortly after Erik ten Hag’s departure.

United defeated Leicester 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, setting up a promising start for incoming manager Rúben Amorim, who takes over after the international break.

Bruno Fernandes celebrated his 250th game for United by scoring the opener in the 17th minute. Later in the first half, he was involved in an incident that led to a Victor Kristiansen own goal.

Though United didn’t take their first shot of the second half until the 77th minute, Alejandro Garnacho secured the win shortly after with a third goal.

Despite the 3-0 scoreline, Leicester might feel unlucky to have lost by such a margin. Thanks to André Onana’s crucial save from Wilfred Ndidi in the first half.

This win keeps Manchester United in 13th place but gives Amorim a solid foundation as he takes over from Sporting CP. Leicester have only won two of their 11 league games this season, with a record only slightly better than in the 2001-02 season.

In addition, Bruno Fernandes reached a significant milestone, directly contributing to 100 goals in 170 Premier League games for United (56 goals, 44 assists). He reached this mark just one appearance later than Cristiano Ronaldo, who did it in 169 games.
