Manchester United’s centre-back Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out of action for the coming weeks, following the recurrence of a foot injury he suffered back in April.

Recall that the Argentine defender who had a great first season at United in the 2022/23 season wasn’t fit for the latter part of the season after he fractured his metatarsal.

MUFC report today states that the 25-year-old worsened the foot in the loss to Arsenal last month and played through the pain in their next two games against Brighton and Bayern Munich which equally ended in defeats.

Although the former Ajax defender missed the Red Devils last two matches against Burnley and Crystal Palace, the club has confirmed he will be out longer.

“It has now been determined that he [Martinez] needs a period on the sidelines for recovery and rehabilitation. Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps.

“Everyone at Manchester United sends Lisandro our best wishes and looks forward to him coming back as soon as possible,” the statement on United’s website reads.

Manchester United’s next game will be against Crystal Palace in the Premier League tomorrow, after pulling one over the Eagles in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
