Portugal claimed a massive comeback win over Denmark, as the Selecao won 5-2 to qualify for the UEFA Nations League semi-final.

Roberto Martinez’s side won 5-3 on aggregate, having lost 1-0 to the Danish national team, courtesy of Rasmus Hojlund’s goal.

Portugal almost got the ground running very early into the contest, when Cristiano Ronaldo won a penalty. But the Portuguese captain missed, as he rolled the ball into the Kasper Schmeichel’s arms with a tame effort.

However, Joachim Andersen steered a header into his own net late in the first half to ensure Portugal levelled 1-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Kristensen put Denmark back in the lead in the 56th minute as his header found the back of the net.

Ronaldo atoned for his earlier miss with a timely finish after a Bruno Fernandes attempt struck the post in the 72nd minute.

Denmark also responded swiftly, to take the lead on on aggregate just four minutes later. A blocked back pass from Ruben Dias was picked by Patrick Dorgu, who found fellow country and club mate, Christian Eriksen to make it 3-2 on aggregate, with 14 minutes of regular time remaining.

Portugal looked to be staring at elimination, but Francisco Trincao came off the bench to give the Selecao hope.

The Sporting Lisbon attacker shot into the bottom right corner, after Nuno Mendes controlled Schmeichel’s punched ball to his feet.

The game moved into extra-time, after regular time ended 3-3 on aggregate, but Portugal settled the clash in extra time, scoring two more goals.

Trincao scored again, as he calmly rebounded Schmeichel’s save from Goncalo Ramos’ effort, sending the home fans wild.

Portugal saw Diogo Jota’s 105th minute effort ruled out as offside before Ramos sealed the game, setting up a last-four meeting with Germany.
