After a disappointing spell in Germany, Real Salt Lake is allegedly in talks to bring American international George Bello back to the MLS. The left-back had parted ways with Arminia Bielefeld, where he had previously endured back-to-back relegations after joining them in January 2022.

When moving to Europe, Bello signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, but it has been shortened. Reports say that Bello is now in discussions with Real Salt Lake about a potential return to the MLS, despite interest from other European teams in the young defense. Considering that he has already had offers of about $4 million (£3 million) made for his services, getting him for free in 2023 would be smart business.

Bello came up through Atlanta United’s youth program, making 59 appearances for them after making his senior debut. The player, who was born in Nigeria, also has seven USMNT caps and was a member of the team that won the Gold Cup in 2021.

Bello would be eager to reach an arrangement that will allow him to restart a still-promising career after being limited to just eight starts and 35 appearances over the course of his 18 months at Bielefeld.
