Micky van de Ven shared a cryptic update on Instagram after limping out of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup match against Manchester City. He left fans concerned after sustaining a hamstring injury during the fourth-round victory over Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Dutch defender, now crucial to Spurs’ defence, exited early. He appeared to pull a muscle while sprinting to intercept City’s forward, Savinho.
In response to worried fans, Van de Ven posted a brief message on Instagram. Accompanied by a photo of him holding his head in frustration, the caption simply read, “Back soon.”
This has left supporters and analysts speculating on his recovery timeline. For him, this is an all-too-familiar setback. Last season, a similar hamstring issue kept him out for nearly two months.
Given this, coach Ange Postecoglou exercised caution, confirming that Van de Ven had felt “something in his hamstring.” He added, “I haven’t got the full update on him but he definitely felt something and we’ll see how he is.”
With an upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa, Van de Ven’s absence presents a challenge for Tottenham. Postecoglou may need to adjust his defensive lineup, possibly bringing in Radu Dragusin to fill the gap.
