Ruud van Nistelrooy plans to stay in England and has reportedly applied for a Championship club role after leaving Manchester United.

He joined United in the summer as Erik ten Hag’s assistant and later became interim manager after Ten Hag’s dismissal. During his brief stint, Van Nistelrooy remained unbeaten in four games, including wins over Leicester City and PAOK in Europe.

Despite his success, new manager Ruben Amorim replaced him with his own coaching team from Sporting Lisbon. This left Van Nistelrooy without a role at Old Trafford. According to the Mirror, he has now applied to manage Coventry City.

The Championship club, currently 17th, recently parted ways with Mark Robins and is searching for new leadership. Around 70 applicants, including Frank Lampard and Lee Carsley, have expressed interest.

Coventry’s owner and management team are reviewing candidates before making a decision. Van Nistelrooy is also reportedly open to managing Burnley if the position becomes available.

Although linked to Burnley in the past, he returned to United instead. Fans are reportedly dissatisfied with current manager Scott Parker, raising speculation about a possible change.

Van Nistelrooy’s interest in Championship roles shows his determination to build a managerial career in England. Whether he joins Coventry, Burnley, or another club, his next step will be closely watched.
