The date for Victor Lindelof’s Man United contract extension is unknown, although he anticipates it will be activated soon. Currently, the Swedish international is engaged in negotiations at Old Trafford for a contract that will end in the summer of 2024.
Due to the Red Devils’ 12-month extension provision, which will retain the 29-year-old defender on their books, he is not anticipating to enter the free agent market. Though there have been rumours that Lindelof would draw interest from others, with Serie A powerhouses AC Milan reportedly among his many suitors.
The elegant center-back is confident that England will be his long-term home because he has no desire to take on a new challenge. Lindelof told reporters when it was put to him that United will be extending his contract:
“That’s more than I heard! I have an option [for another] year and there is a deadline for it. When exactly I don’t know. But it feels likely that it will be activated. Absolutely [I want to stay]. I enjoy myself very much. I am entering my seventh year. I feel good and the family feels good. It’s a club that I really like, and that I love to represent.”
He transferred from Benfica to United in 2017 for $38 million (£31 million). Despite intense competition for spots from players like Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and HarryMaguire.
He is close to making 250 appearances for the club and is not seeking for a way out after helping them win the Carabao Cup last season.
