West Ham defeated Leicester City 2-0 at London Stadium on Thursday. Tomas Soucek scored early in the match, celebrating his 30th birthday with a goal. The second goal came just before half-time due to an own goal by Jannik Vestergaard.

Leicester’s defense struggled throughout the game, which West Ham took advantage of. Soucek’s goal followed a failed clearance, allowing him to score from close range. Later, Jarrod Bowen’s shot was deflected in by Vestergaard after another poor clearance.

This win marked West Ham’s second consecutive victory under manager Graham Potter, following a surprise win against Arsenal. The team moved up to 15th place in the standings, while Leicester remained in 19th and firmly in the relegation zone, five points from safety.

Leicester has had a tough run, with only two wins in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s 14 league matches in charge. They have lost 11 of their last 12 league games, facing a challenging schedule ahead against top teams.

In the first half, West Ham played with energy, particularly exploiting the right wing. Aaron Wan-Bissaka put pressure on Leicester’s left back, Victor Kristiansen, throughout the half.

In the second half, Leicester showed more aggression but could not convert their chances. West Ham spent much of the half defending, putting more pressure on Leicester, who have now gone four league games without scoring while conceding 12 goals.
