Iga Swiatek made her way into the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday. The world no. 1 didn’t take much time to get past Sara Sorribes Tormo. After just an hour and nine minutes of play, Swiatek posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over the Spaniard. The patterns that have now become common in Swiatek’s matches were repeated all over.

She broke Sorribes Tormo in the latter’s first game of the opening set and went up 2-0 in the set. However, she was unable to consolidate the break and was broken back for 2-1. The world no. 84 would win just one more game for the rest of the set and Swiatek was able to maintain her lead quite comfortably. The second set saw Swiatek unleash her dominance even more severely and Sorribes Tormo had no way to match up to her level.

The second set was wrapped up in just 29 minutes by the Pole.Despite the early break, when Swiatek did lose her serve in the first set, she looked a little uncertain. But it didn’t take long for her to get her game going.

Her composure also saw to it that she also didn’t commit much errors for the rest of the match. She also brought out the errors from her opponent, although both players had relatively fewer unforced errors.

Swiatek finished the match by winning 83% of her first-serve points and 52% points on return on her rival’s first serve.

She also had nine times as many winners as Sorribes Tormo’s three. Just two unforced errors separated Swiatek from Sorribes Tormo. The latter had 11 to the seeded player’s 13.In the next round, Swiatek will play Diane Parry or 30th seed Petra Martic.Earlier, Daria Kasatkina was the first player to win a match on the third day at Wimbledon even as rain continued to dampen play.

The 11th seed posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over home player Jodie Burrage in 59 minutes. Burrage’s game didn’t even get going in the opening set although she did well to try and change things in the second set. But that effort wasn’t enough as Kasatkina continued to keep her level high for the entirety of the match.
