Iga Swiatek remained on top of the WTA rankings, increasing her lead over second ranked Aryna Sabalenka after winning the Warsaw Open in her native Poland.

With the title, her fourth of the 2023 season, Swiatek now holds a 645-point lead over Sabalenka, who is followed by Elena Rybakina at No. 3, Jessica Pegula at No 4, Ons Jabeur, up one spot to No 5, Caroline Garcia down one spot to No 6, Coco Gauff at No 7, Petra Kvitova at No 8, Maria Sakkari at No 9, and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova at No 10.

 

Elsewhere in the top 20, French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova climbs one spot to No 17, swapping places with Liudmila Samsonova.

 

There were big moves for the other two titlists on tour from last week. Italy’s 22-year-old Elisabetta Cocciaretto jumps 12 spots to a new career-high of No 30 after winning her first WTA singles title in Lausanne while 32-year-old Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus moves up 18 spots to No 42, also a new career-high, after winning her first WTA singles title in Hamburg.

Lausanne runner-up Clara Burel jumps 23 spots to No 61, a new career-high for the 22-year-old Frenchwoman. Another French youngster, 20-year-old Diane Parry climbs 11 spots to No 79 after reaching the semis in Lausanne.

 

Russia’s Diana Shnaider is up 15 spots to No 86 after making the semis in Hamburg and former world No 12 Yanina Wickmayer, of Belgium, climbs 16 spots to No 93 after teaching the Warsaw semis. The Belgian was ranked No 597 just 12 months ago when she made her comeback to the tour, and she is back in the top 100 for the first time since September 2018.

 

Warsaw runner-up Laura Siegemund jumps 42 spots to No 111 and 19-year-old Noma Noha Akugue shoots up 65 spots to No 142 after reaching the Hamburg final.
