Barcelona starlet, Lamine Yamal scores brace as Barcelona won 4-1 against Girona to stay top.

The teenager’s double, plus second-half goals by Dani Olmo and Pedri, led Barcelona to their fifth straight league victory.

Barça dominated from start to finish as they kept their lead over Real Madrid at four points. They are the only team with five wins out of five to begin the new La Liga campaign.

Hansi Flick’s side were quick, precise and unpredictable with their passing and movement, forcing Girona into hopeless long balls. They also got plenty of shots, forcing Paulo Gazzaniga into some solid saves.

They were rewarded for their dominance with two first half goals from sensational Yamal. The youngster scored both goals in the space of seven minutes.

The Spanish talent pressed and dispossessed David Lopez after Girona took a short goal-kick to score from short distance.

Seven minutes later, Raphinha’s free-kick was poorly cleared by the Girona defense, and Yamal pounced on the rebound. The golden boy nominee sent a glorious curling effort into the bottom corner to double the Blaugrana lead.

With five minutes remaining for the first interval, Girona produced some awakening display. They created two chances to get back in the game but were denied by Marc-André ter Stegen and VAR.

Bryan Gil had a one-on-one chance but a sensational save by Ter Stegen rescued Barcelona from conceding. Var intervention also denied Girona from pulling one back after the ball appeared to have struck Inigo Martínez’s arm.

However, Barcelona compounded the hosts’ sore as they added the third, two minutes into the second half. Jules Kounde’s through ball played in Dani Olmo, who scored his third in three appearances for the Catalan giants.

Just beyond the hour mark, and it got even better for Barcelona. Marc Casado played a delightful ball to Pedri, who rounded Gazzaniga before firing into the empty net for the fourth.

Girona got a consolation goal to deny Barcelona their second clean sheets. Cristian Stuani came off the bench to make it 4-1.

The game ended with Ferran Torres receive a red card for a strong challenge on Yaser Asprilla.

Nevertheless for Barcelona, the result saw them keep their four-point lead over Real Madrid and Villarreal at the top of La Liga.
