Yamal’s strike earns Barcelona narrow victory against Real Mallorca

Lamine Yamal’s 73rd-minute strike helped Barcelona claim a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Real Mallorca in a tense LaLiga encounter at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Friday.

Despite missing manager Xavi Hernandez due to his touchline suspension, Barcelona started the game with confidence, with early chances falling to Raphinha and Jules Koundé.

The Catalan giants, however, suffered a setback when İlkay Gündoğan’s penalty was saved, injecting fresh energy into Mallorca who became more direct in putting Barcelona’s defence under pressure, although no goal was recorded before the break.

Twenty-eight minutes into the second half, Lamine Yamal unleashed a stunning strike past Rajković, breaking the deadlock which eventually became the match-winner.

Real Mallorca fought valiantly until the final whistle, but ultimately couldn’t find a way past Barcelona’s defence resulting in another away defeat for the visitors, as Barcelona extended their unbeaten run to eight games across all competitions.
